Rabbi Paul Arberman

Rabbi Paul Arberman has arrived in the United States as a Masorti Speaker for Israel and Aliyah promotion. This program is taking place under the banner of "November is Link to Israel Month" being organized by the Conservative Movement's Aliyah Committee in conjunction with MERCAZ USA, the Zionist Organization of the Conservative Movement, the Jewish Agency Aliyah Department and the North American Israel Aliyah Centers.

Born and raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Rabbi Arberman's Jewish and Zionist education took place at the East Midwood Jewish Center/Rabbi Harry Halpern Day School and at camps Cejwin and Tel Yehudah. In 1998, he made aliyah and, four years later, was ordained by the Schechter Institute in Jersualem.

Following his graduation from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, in 1993, with a BA in Government, Rabbi Arberman worked in politics, first as an aide to Senator Charles Schumer in Washington, D.C. and subsequently, as the press secretary to Rep. Anthony Weiner in Brooklyn. He then returned to fulltime studies in the rabbinical program at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, and stayed long enough to receive his MA in Judaic Studies in 1998, before transferring to the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Arberman is currently the rabbi of Congregation Yedid Nefesh in the city of Modiin, which is located midway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Previously, he served as the rabbi of Congregation Bet Israel in Netanya. He has also held several positions within the Masorti Movement including grant writer (2005-2007) and music director of Camp Ramah-NOAM (Summer 2001).

Rabbi Arberman and his wife Riki are the proud parents of three children, a 2 1/2-year old and twin one-year olds.
